Not only the mayor of Kosice, Richard Rasi, is glad that the choice for a suitable production location fell on his city last autumn. Kosice is the second largest city in Slovakia. The largest production plant of the Japanese group in Europe is now being built near the international airport. Start of production on the 100.000 m² large company premises is planned for 2018. The construction period is less than a year, and the products produced in the modern factory have already been largely defined. Small Brushless DC Motors and Motor systems for the automotive industry as well as Motor systems for general industrial applications are to be built. In large quantities, the Group will produce with modern production lines. New products in the fields of sensor technology and LED technology as well as fans, which are used in special applications in vehicles, willl be produced in the new factory. PM DM GmbH in Villingen-Schwenningen, which has been developing new products and applications for the group for more than 25 years, was given the order for the administration and development of the new plant. The PM DM GmbH is the largest development centre of MinebeaMitsumi Inc. outside Japan. Due to the latest developments, an additional development center with the focus on software will be built in Kosice. Initial talks with universities have already taken place. They welcome the decision and face the upcoming cooperation with confidence. In order to be able to start production, the factory needs numerous employees including technicians and engineers.
The period from the development to the serial production of new products is already reduced by using synergies between European subsidiaries. Due to the new production location the risks of the exchange rate will be mimimized and savings in logistics through shortened transport distances will be made. In addition, services will be optimized and flexibility will be improved due to the proximity to the European automotive industry.
