AR EXPERIENCE MEETS SMART CITY

Augmented Reality is, as its name suggests, used to augment or enhance the real-world environment. It provides an interactive, enriched experience where computer-generated objects or graphics are superimposed. As cities, the infrastructure, homes and facilities become smarter every day, the flood of collected data is tangible and displayable in an innovative way thanks to AR concepts. The public sector therefore has numerous new opportunities in the fields of maintenance, transportation, emergency services and many more.

The Paradox Engineering AR Smart City App offers a unique Augmented Reality immersion into IoT applications. The user is guided into an interactive demonstration of how public services such as streetlight control, parking management, solid waste collection, video surveillance and public Wi-Fi can be managed and controlled from a single platform, making cities cleaner and safer. When entering the AR experience, a digital animation of „PE Smart Urban Network“ is available to see how the interoperable wireless IoT and wireless highspeed IoT platform enables key city services. There are also digital animations of urban applications including Smart LightingSmart Parking, Smart Waste Management, Smart Building, Smart Sensing and Wireless Highspeed Services. The user can also look at smart devices and data in action, with simulated readings from streetlights, parking lots, waste bins, building and environmental sensors.

The AR Smart City mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices: download it for free from Apple Store or Google Play.

The following possibilities to enter the AR experience are available:

With a marker image
Marker-based Augmented Reality (also called Image Recognition) needs some type of visual marker, such as a QR/2D code, to produce a result only when it is sensed by a reader, which corresponds to the camera of your mobile device.
To start the AR experience this way, download the marker image at this link and print it (A3 format would be preferable). Select the option ‘With marker image’ from Main page, frame the picture with your device’s camera and follow the instructions.

Without a marker image
Markerless Augmented Reality (also called location-based, position-based, or GPS) uses the GPS, digital compass, velocity meter, or accelerometer which is embedded in your mobile device to provide data based on your location.
To start the AR experience this way, select the option ‘Without marker image’ from Main page, move around slowly to find a plane surface (a table or the floor would be fine), frame it and follow the instructions.

3D tracking
Superimposition-based Augmented Reality either partially or fully replaces the original view of an object with a digitally augmented version of that same object.
As object recognition is needed, this AR experience is available only at Paradox Engineering’s premises. To schedule a visit or ask for more information, please contact Paradox Engineering.
