A delegation of the Slovakian Ministry of Economy, led by the Deputy Prime Minister Richard Raši and Economy Minister Peter Žiga, visited Minebea Slovakia s.r.o. in Košice. Both Richard Raši and Peter Žiga had already attended the big opening ceremony of the factory on June 15, 2018. General Manager of Minebea Slovakia, Radoslav Pastorak, and the local team of the factory and R&D experts provided an in-depth update on the factory project and investments.
One of the most important topics during the visit was without doubt the national lack of labor and mostly specialists. Minebea Slovakia’s long-term plan is to hire 1,200 employees in Košice. Since there are neighbouring regions with an unemployment rate of over 10 percent, Richard Raši expressed his confidence regarding the favourable situation on the labour market in Košice.
Another point on the agenda was the impact of the corona virus on Slovakian production facilities in general. Peter Žiga was pleasantly surprised by the fact that Minebea Slovakia does not expect any significant impact, since there are only very few Chinese suppliers.
After fruitful discussions the delegation had been invited to join a guided tour through the factory and the R&D facilities and received valuable information on the manufactured product areas such as BLDC industrial motors, AGA actuators, stepping motors, airmovers, compact spindle drives and on the R&D activities in the fields of software development and hardware design.
