New production site for the European Motion Technology Business Unit (EMT BU) in Mexico
To respond even more flexibly to the American market, open up further markets and supply existing customers in North America faster and more reliably, the EMT BU is opening a new production facility with the MinebeaMitsumi Group. In doing so, they are converting and expanding an existing production site of the subsidiary Minebea Access Solutions Mexico (MAS Mx) in Silao near Guanajuato in central Mexico. The conversion work has begun, and the investment costs have been low thanks to the collaboration.
The EMT BU develops and produces BLDC motors, actuators, and drive systems for the industrial and automotive sectors. The organization and administration is based in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, at MinebeaMitsumi Technology Center Europe GmbH. In the past, customers in North America mainly benefited from the production sites in Southeast Asia and China. During the coronavirus pandemic, lockdowns in China and Thailand and the long transport routes led to enormous problems and costs. An alternative strategy was developed with customers, such as producing at locations where the products are needed and assembled. The first production lines for actuators for the automotive industry are to be audited and put into operation as early as this autumn. Not only the long distances but also the reaction times will be minimized considerably. The North American economic area is of great importance to the MinebeaMitsumi Group and is thus continuously expanding its market position.
