Information Letter on Possible Delays due to the Red Sea Crisis

The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic group Hamas, as well as the increased attacks by Yemen's pro-Iranian Houthi group on ships in the Red Sea, has led to the rerouting of container ships bound for Europe and the U.S. East Coast. The old route, which used to follow the Suez Canal, has been swapped for the Cape of Good Hope.

The anticipated outcomes of this alteration in the route include an extension of lead times by 10 to 14 days compared to conventional times, with the potential for further delays.

Due to the increasing distance and limited space, elevated freight and fuel costs are expected. Additionally, route changes may delay schedules and operational adjustments, such as blank sailings, suspensions, and port disruptions. These measures will likely remain in effect as long as security in the Red Sea and the Suez Canal is not assured.

Specific information regarding the affected ships or containers is not readily available. Future schedules and blank sailings are still to be finalized.
